Indications

  • Pulmonary nodule evaluation
  • Oncology staging or surveillance
  • Interstitial lung disease assessment
  • Infection or pneumonia evaluation

Patient Preparation

  • NPO status per site policy for contrast-enhanced studies.
  • Screen for contrast allergy and renal function as required.

IV Contrast

Use contrast-enhanced or noncontrast technique based on indication and order.

  • Injection rate and timing per standard chest CT protocol.

Scanner and Technique

  • Coverage: lung apices through adrenal glands unless otherwise specified.
  • Slice thickness: thin-section acquisition with standard and high-resolution reconstructions as indicated.
  • Reformats: axial, coronal, and sagittal lung and soft tissue kernels as per routine.

Notes

  • For suspected pulmonary embolism, use the dedicated CTA chest protocol.
