MSK MRI
MSK MRI protocols include shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. Protocols typically combine fluid-sensitive sequences, T1-weighted sequences, and cartilage-sensitive sequences in appropriate planes.
Example: MRI Knee
Indications
- Meniscal tear
- Ligament injury
- Chondral lesion
Patient Positioning
- Supine with knee centered in the dedicated knee coil when available.
Typical Sequence Layout
- Localizer
- Coronal and sagittal fluid-sensitive sequences
- Axial sequences through the patellofemoral compartment
- T1-weighted sequence in at least one plane
Adjust field of view, slice thickness, and coverage per site protocol.
